Storm Alerts Issued Across Poland

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first-degree storm and hydrological alerts for multiple regions on Sunday, June 7, warning of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and localized flooding.

Storm Warnings and Forecasted Intensity

IMGW has issued first-degree storm alerts for the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian provinces, as well as parts of the West Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Łódź, Masovian, and Warmian-Masurian provinces. The forecast indicates heavy rainfall between 20 mm and 30 mm, wind gusts reaching 70 km/h, and a risk of hail. These alerts are in effect from 11:00 to 20:00 on Sunday, June 7.

Hydrological Risk Assessment

The Institute has also issued first-degree hydrological warnings for rapid water level rises in parts of the West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, and Warmian-Masurian regions. Authorities report that areas experiencing intense storm rainfall may face sudden water level increases and local flooding on smaller rivers and within urbanized catchments. These warnings are active from 11:00 to 20:00 on Sunday.

Weather Outlook for Sunday and Monday

On Sunday, cloud cover will be moderate to heavy, with only the southeast seeing clear skies. Rain showers are expected across most of the country, excluding the Podkarpackie region. Maximum temperatures will range from 20°C in Pomerania to 26°C in the southeast. Winds will be generally light to moderate, though gusts during storms may reach 70 km/h.

Monday’s weather will feature moderate to heavy clouds, with clear intervals in the south. Light rain and local storms are possible in the north and northeast, while the south and west remain dry. Temperatures will peak between 20°C in the north and 26°C in the southeast, with storm wind gusts expected to reach 55 km/h.
