Storms and Rainfall Incoming: IMGW Issues Official Warnings for Poland

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued first-degree weather alerts for parts of western Poland as storms and significant rainfall are expected to sweep across the country this Saturday.

Saturday Weather and Storm Forecast

On Saturday, May 30, Poland will experience significant cloud cover with occasional clearings. Rainfall will move from Lower Silesia through the central regions toward the east, while the northeast remains dry. Afternoon storms are expected in a central belt stretching from Kujawy to Silesia and Lesser Poland, with rainfall totals reaching 25 mm.

Official IMGW Storm Alerts

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued first-degree alerts for the Lubusz, Lower Silesian (excluding the southeastern area), and Greater Poland (Międzychód, Nowy Tomyśl, and Wolsztyn counties) voivodeships. These warnings are effective from midnight until 8:00 AM on Saturday.

Temperature and Wind Conditions

Maximum temperatures on Saturday will range from 18°C in the northeast and 21°C in the center to 24°C in the west, with coastal and Podhale regions seeing 14°C to 17°C. Winds will generally be light to moderate, though gusts could reach 75 km/h during storms and 70 km/h in high mountain areas.

Overnight Forecast and Sunday Outlook

Saturday night will bring lingering rain and storms in the southeast, with temperatures ranging from 8°C in Podhale to 15°C in Western Pomerania. On Sunday, cloudy weather with partial clearings will persist across most of the country, accompanied by rain in the east and Pomerania, and potential storms in the northeast. Winds on Sunday may gust up to 65 km/h during storms.
