New Polish driving regulations coming March 3, 2026 will increase penalties for speeding and modify age requirements for drivers and electric scooter riders.
Stricter Speeding Penalties
Starting March 3, 2026, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 50 kilometers per hour will lose their driving licenses for three months. This applies to both built-up and non-built-up areas, but not to highways or dual carriageways. The current regulations only mandate license suspension for speeding by more than 50 km/h in built-up areas.
Last year, approximately 26,500 drivers had their licenses suspended under these current rules. The new regulations could significantly increase this number.
Lowered Driving Age for Young Drivers
New regulations reduce the minimum age for obtaining a driver’s license to 17 years, provided certain conditions are met. Seventeen-year-olds will be eligible to take the category B driving exam at provincial road traffic centers.
Increased Minimum Age for Electric Scooters
The new rules also increase the minimum age for riding electric scooters on public roads from 10 to 13 years. This change aims to improve road safety by restricting younger children from using these vehicles on public thoroughfares.
