At approximately 4:45 pm on November 5, a seismic shock of 2.37 magnitude occurred at the Murcki‑Staszic mine in Katowice. The tremor was felt in several nearby cities.

Evacuation of 42 Workers

Polish Mining Group notified on Facebook that 42 workers were pulled from the affected area due to the quake. No injuries were reported among those evacuated.

Details of the Event 500 Meters Below

The shock originated at a depth of 500 m within the 106/401/1/S section of the 401 wall. Four surface notifications were received about the incident, and the mine’s spokeswoman, Ewa Grudniok, confirmed that staff in the vicinity were safely removed.

August Shake: 1.11 Magnitude, Minor Injuries

In August, the same mine experienced another strong shake with a 1.11 magnitude. While it had no serious surface impact, four miners underground sustained minor injuries.
