Strong Winds and Rain Strike Multiple Regions; Nearly 2,000 Firefighter Interventions

The violent October 30 storm unleashed strong winds and rain across Poland, prompting 1,800+ firefighter dispatches nationwide.

Dangerous Weather in Warsaw

On Thursday (October 30), a storm with powerful gusts and heavy rain swept through Warsaw and surrounding counties. Firefighters responded 345 times across the entire Masovian Voivodeship, mainly in Warsaw, Wołomiński County, Warsaw West County, and Siedlce County.

Most reports involved fallen trees and branches that landed on sidewalks, requiring clearance to unblock roads. Seven roof damages were also recorded in Wołomiński, Lipsk, Pruszków, Płock, Węgorz, and Legionowo counties, said TVN Warsaw press officer Karol Kroć. In Saska Kępa a broken tree fell, injuring a man’s arm and shoulder; he was taken to hospital.

Numerous Interventions in Pomeranian Voivodeship

Residents of the Pomeranian Voivodeship also faced the storm. The hardest situations were reported in Ślupia, Wejherowo, and Kartuj counties, with offshore wind reaching 110 km/h.

In Antonin village, Kwidzyn County, a tree fell on a car, injuring two passengers, including an eight‑year‑old child. Late Thursday, Radio Gdańsk reported power outages in Tczew, Starogard, and areas around Słupsk, Lębork, and Malbork; power was restored that night.

Widespread Impacts Across Poland

According to Radio ZET and the PAP, firefighters responded 1,797 times in total to wind and storm events. Brigade Staff Karol Kierzkowski cited 345 incidents in Masovian, 209 in Pomeranian, and the majority of dispatches came from Greater Poland (172), Łódź (166), West Pomeranian (161), and Lower Silesian (143).

Another incident on the road from Polkowice to Lubin, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, saw a tree fall onto a passing car; the driver was hospitalized, said local portal miedziowe.pl.
