Students Protest Radosław Sikorski’s Visit to University of Warsaw

During a UN 80th‑anniversary conference at the University of Warsaw, students accused Radosław Sikorski of supporting genocide in Palestine.

Sikorski at UW and Controversy over Israel

Radosław Sikorski, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, spoke at a conference celebrating the United Nations’ 80th anniversary on the University of Warsaw campus. A student, holding a Palestinian flag, marched into the middle of the hall and accused him of supporting genocide, demanding an embargo and sanctions against Israel. Sikorski attempted to defuse the situation while security escorted the student out.

Sikorski on Criticism of Israel

After the doors closed, Sikorski added that the Israeli ambassador was likely dismayed by his repeated criticisms of Israel’s excessive use of force in Gaza and illegal settlements in the West Bank. He also pointed out that the Israeli operation in Gaza had begun with a “flag‑rant terrorist attack” by Hamas.

Sikorski the Netanjahu Lawyer

Similar accusations were leveled against Sikorski and the Polish government by participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla, who were detained by Israel. Polish MP Franciszek Sterczewski noted that Sikorski may speak strongly about Russian war crimes but seems to ignore or legitimize Israeli crimes, calling him “Netanjahu’s lawyer”. He claimed that Poland’s role as a prosecutor of Putin is undermined by Sikorski’s stance toward Israel.
