The Catholic Church in Poland is set to conduct a nationwide survey of worshippers on Sunday, October 19. The survey, which aims to gauge attendance at Mass and communion, will take place in all parishes across Poland.

Statistical Analysis

The data collected will be published in the Statistical Yearbook of the Catholic Church in Poland, released by the Institute of Catholic Church Statistics SAC. According to recent data, in 2023, 29.2% of worshippers attended Mass, while 14.2% received communion.

The Tarnow diocese recorded the highest attendance at 24.4%, followed by the Zamość-Lubaczów and Białystok dioceses. In contrast, the Szczecin-Kamień and Sosnowiec archdioceses reported the lowest attendance, at 8.5%.

Church Statistics

In 2023, Poland had 10,344 Catholic parishes, including 680 monastic parishes. There were 23,612 priests affiliated with dioceses and eparchies. The Church recorded 267,200 baptisms, 294,000 confirmations, and 77,200 marriages.
