The Supreme Court on 8 December upheld a disciplinary warning issued to prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek by the Disciplinary Court in May. The warning followed two X posts she made in 2022–2023 that were deemed inappropriate for a public official.
Controversial Social Media Posts
Wrzosek’s posts criticised a prosecutor’s adviser who drafted the indictment against rapper Michał M., “Mata,” for possessing 1.4 grams of marijuana. The remarks were interpreted as an attack on a public office, prompting the disciplinary action.
Judge Highlights Boundaries for Public Officials
Judge Barbara Skoczkowska explained that while private citizens may use social media freely, public officials, particularly prosecutors, must observe limits. She warned that certain lines of conduct should not be crossed by those holding state positions.
