Lawmaker Marek Suski interrupted questioning regarding alleged threats made to prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, citing health concerns and referencing the death of a previous witness.
Suski’s Testimony Interrupted
Marek Suski appeared for questioning as a witness on March 17th regarding alleged threats made by PiS MEP Jacek Ozdoba towards prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek last year. The proceedings, conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnów, were held via teleconference, requiring Suski to attend a Warsaw prosecutor’s office.
During the session, Suski reportedly stated he “did not want to end up like Barbara Skrzypek” before abruptly claiming illness and a heart condition, necessitating his departure.
Wrzosek Alleges Obstruction
Prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek described Suski’s actions as a procedural obstruction, suggesting an attempt to delay the investigation until after parliamentary elections, potentially avoiding accountability. She expressed her dismay at the tactic.
Medical Evaluation Finds No Heart Attack
Suski claimed his blood pressure spiked upon seeing Wrzosek and requested an ambulance. However, medical personnel who examined him at the prosecutor’s office found no evidence of a heart attack. The questioning was postponed, with a new date set for April 1st.
The Case of Barbara Skrzypek
Barbara Skrzypek, a former aide to Jarosław Kaczyński, died shortly after being questioned on March 12, 2025, regarding a PiS-linked company and a planned development project. Her death was initially linked by PiS politicians to the stress of the interrogation, but a subsequent investigation ruled out foul play, attributing her death to a heart attack and finding no connection to the questioning.
Minister Announces Ethics Complaint
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced a complaint to the Sejm ethics committee against Suski, following reports of disrespectful behavior and a breach of protocol during a ceremony in Radom.
The complaint stems from allegations of offensive remarks directed towards a military officer during the event.
