Arrest in Warsaw

Police detained a 19-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man in a downtown Warsaw store. The pair first stole snacks, then attempted to leave the store without payment.

Theft and Confrontation

Earlier on Marszałkowska Street, the suspects concealed items under their clothing and in a backpack. Cashiers of Ukrainian origin noticed the theft and locked the store doors, calling authorities.

Assault and Hate Crime

The suspects reacted aggressively, verbally abusing the women and threatening violence. One cashier was struck, pushed, and grabbed. The pair also insulted the victims based on their nationality.

Legal Consequences

Testing revealed the woman had nearly three times the legal alcohol limit, while the man exceeded it. They face robbery and hate crime charges, carrying a maximum 10-year prison sentence. Both are under police supervision with a no-contact order regarding the victims.

Ongoing Investigation

The District Prosecutor’s Office for Warsaw-Żoliborz oversees the case. Evidence, including surveillance footage showing deliberate aggression, has been secured. The man returned stolen items during the incident.
