The Turkish-owned oil tanker Altura was attacked by drones in the Black Sea, approximately 27 kilometers from the Bosphorus Strait on Thursday.

The Turkish oil tanker Altura was attacked by drones on the Black Sea, according to Bloomberg reports from Thursday. The incident occurred roughly 27 kilometers from the Bosphorus Strait.
No injuries to the crew have been reported. Tugboats and patrol boats have been dispatched to assist the vessel.
Ship Details and Cargo
The Altura, owned by Turkish firm Pergamon Shipping, departed from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, carrying 140,000 tons of oil.
Attack Details and Damage
According to Turkyie Today, the attack occurred both from the air and sea overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. The engine room and upper deck sustained damage.
HaberDenizde reports an explosion on the ship’s bridge and water ingress into the engine room.
Ownership and History
The tanker has changed owners and names, initially sailing under the Turkish flag as Besiktas Dardanelles, then under the Panamanian flag as Kayseri, and since November of last year as Altura.
HaberDenizde claims Kayseri is owned by Mohammad Hoseyn Shamkani, son of the late Ali Shamkani, former secretary-general of Iran’s National Security Council, who died in a U.S.-Israeli attack between February and March of this year.
