On Friday, 21 November, Tarnopol’s 27th Public School announced the death of second‑class student Amelia and her mother Oksana, stating they “were engulfed alive as a result of a hostile missile attack.” The community declared a period of mourning, describing Amelia as a “bright little angel” who will no longer sit at a desk, hug classmates, or bring warmth with her bright gaze.

Death of a Polish Girl in Russian Attack

Amelia perished during the night of 18‑19 November when a Russian missile strike hit a civilian residential block in Ukrainian Tarnopol. Reports by Ukraïńska Pravda raised the death toll to 32, with six children among the victims; Amelia and her mother were counted among them. Official statements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maciej Wewiór noted that 94 people were injured, including 18 children, while the State Rescue Service confirmed 13 missing persons.

Comments from Tusk and Nawrocki

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk condemned the tragedy, noting that “Amelka was seven, a Polish child, killed in Tarnopol during a savage Russian missile attack. She will never fulfil her dreams. War must end, and Russia cannot win. This war also threatens the future of our children.” Other Polish officials, including politician Grzegorz Nawrocki, echoed the call for an immediate end to the conflict, emphasizing the impact on Ukrainian civilians.
