A 37-year-old teacher in Sieradz, Poland, has been arrested and temporarily detained for allegedly providing a minor with mephedrone in exchange for a sexual encounter.
Teacher Detained on Drug Charges
The temporary arrest of the 37-year-old man was announced by Jolanta Szkilnik, spokesperson for the Sieradz District Prosecutor’s Office. The man has been charged with providing a minor with a psychotropic substance (mephedrone).
In exchange for the drugs, the Sieradz resident allegedly proposed an intimate encounter with the minor.
Investigation Underway
The investigation, according to Szkilnik, involves gathering documentation, including data from mobile network operators, teleinformatic data, and witness testimonies. The suspect’s apartment was searched, and electronic equipment was seized.
Media reports indicate the arrested individual is a teacher with over 10 years of experience at a primary school in Sieradz, where he taught early childhood education.
Potential Prison Sentence & Suspension
Providing drugs to a minor carries a potential prison sentence of 3 to 20 years.
The teacher has been suspended by the school administration pending the charges and temporary arrest. Information is being collected to initiate disciplinary proceedings, and students are receiving psychological support.
No Link to School Activities, Investigation Continues
Initial findings suggest the suspect’s alleged behavior is unrelated to his work at the school. Szkilnik stated that the school principal was immediately informed of the charges against Piotr M.
The investigation is gathering evidence to comprehensively clarify the circumstances and determine if the man engaged in similar behavior with other minors. The suspect reportedly provided his account of events during questioning.
Legal Consequences of Supplying Drugs to Minors
Providing a narcotic or psychotropic substance to a person under 18, or facilitating or encouraging its use for personal gain, is a crime punishable by 3 to 20 years in prison.
