Polish teachers are protesting a government proposal to establish student ombudsmen at multiple levels without providing funding for the initiative.
Government Proposes Network of Student Ombudsmen
A government draft amendment to the Education Law proposes the creation of a network of student ombudsmen at four levels.
Minister of National Education Barbara Nowacka believes this is “the order schools have been waiting for.”
Cities and Schools Oppose Funding Requirement
Marek Wójcik, an expert from the Union of Polish Cities, stated, “Financially, this is a solution we absolutely will not accept. We are not a bottomless piggy bank.”
The question of who will fund municipal and school student ombudsmen remains unresolved, sparking strong opposition.
