Teenager’s Fight for Life After Train Station Heroics

17-year-old Dominik Hołuj lost limbs helping a woman at a train station; now battling life-threatening infection in Warsaw hospital.

Accident Details

On February 14 at a railway station in Wola Bierwiecka (Masovian Voivodeship), Dominik Hołuj helped a woman carry a stroller from the train to the platform. When the 17-year-old tried to return to the train, the closing doors caught his hand. The train started moving, and Dominik fell under the wheels. In the accident, the teenager lost his entire left leg, part of his right hand, and part of his right foot.

Medical Complications

The 17-year-old’s wounds are not healing. Dominik’s father told ‘Fakt’ that an infection has spread throughout his body. Doctors are trying different antibiotics, but the situation is very serious. We have been prepared for the worst. We heard that everything could end in death, despite this, a spark of hope still remains. His heart is strong, Dominik has always been brave, said Mr. Dariusz.

Family’s Ordeal

Dominik’s mother witnessed the entire accident and was with her son when he was lying on the tracks. She held his head, but at this moment, she doesn’t have the strength to say anything, conveyed Mr. Dariusz.

Treatment in Warsaw

Dominik was recently transported to the Military Medical Institute on Szaserów Street in Warsaw. The teenager’s father thanked the doctors working there for doing everything to save his son.
