Tension Over Surveillance Between TVN24 and TV Republika Reporters

A TVN24 reporter unexpectedly confronted former Polish justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro in Budapest during a TV Republika interview, sparking a tense exchange about alleged surveillance.

Unexpected TVN24 Visit to Ziobro in Budapest

A TVN24 journalist approached former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro on the street in Budapest while he was being interviewed by TV Republika. The reporter posed several questions, to which Ziobro replied briefly and categorically, insisting that actions by prosecutors were political and that he had acted lawfully. After a brief exchange the minister left in a taxi.

Escalated Exchange Between Reporters

Once Ziobro’s car had vanished, staff from both stations began a heated back‑and‑forth. TV Republika asked where TVN24 had learned the location of the recording, to which Maciej Warszanski replied he relied on independent sources and methods. The conversation grew more emotional, with television presenter Janusz Życzkowski jokingly asking whether the rival station was tracking Ziobro with a GPS locator. The TV N24 reporter cut the dialogue short, declined to comment on Rep’s theories, and cited his journalistic credentials as the basis for his work.

Prosecution Seeks Temporary Arrest of Ziobro

Meanwhile prosecutors filed a motion for the former minister’s temporary arrest, alleging 26 charges related to the Justice Fund. Ziobro, who is currently in Hungary, rejects the accusations and says he will return to Poland only when rule of law is restored.
