The commander of the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defense Brigade has dismissed a soldier who allegedly doused his son’s friend with gasoline and set him on fire during a May 31 dispute.
Disciplinary Action and Incident Details
The commander of the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defense Brigade has officially discharged the soldier from service. According to Prosecutor Marcin Kozak of the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office, the 47-year-old suspect allegedly poured gasoline on his son’s friend during a heated argument and subsequently ignited him. Prosecutors further allege that the suspect actively obstructed efforts to provide aid to the victim.
Critical Condition of the Victim
The victim was transported to the hospital with extensive burns. Medical professionals have officially classified his condition as life-threatening.
Ongoing Military Prosecution
The suspect was apprehended following a brief pursuit and reportedly appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest. The case is currently being handled by the Military Department of the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office, where investigators are continuing their procedural actions.
