Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk calls potential US military intervention in Greenland a catastrophe that could end the world order as we know it.
Tusk: US Intervention in Greenland Would Be “The End of the World”
During a Thursday press conference, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was asked about the possibility of a US military takeover of Greenland. “Today may not be the time or place for a detailed analysis of the geopolitical and military consequences of a possible US military intervention in Greenland,” said Tusk. “That would be a catastrophe, politically speaking and from our perspective.”
“A conflict or an attempt to annex the territory of a NATO state by another NATO state – especially by the United States – would be the end of the world as we know it and has guaranteed our security for decades,” Tusk added.
Trump’s Unpredictability Makes All Scenarios Possible
The prime minister emphasized that he “doesn’t want to speculate” whether taking over Greenland is possible. “You know my critical attitude towards many decisions and events that take place on the other side of the Atlantic. I have never hidden that,” said Tusk.
“I can only say what I have always known: unfortunately, no scenario can be ruled out, considering the actions of the Trump administration so far. Every scenario is possible,” stressed the head of government. Tusk revealed that Trump, during conversations with him during his first term, repeatedly gave to understand that “unpredictability and surprising, especially allies, is a method of action to which he is attached.”
Poland Not Planning to Send Troops to Greenland
Earlier, the prime minister was asked by a Reuters reporter if Poland, like France, Germany, Sweden and Norway, would send its troops to Greenland. “No, we are not planning to send Polish soldiers to Greenland,” the politician replied briefly.
Morawiecki: Poland Has No Influence on Greenland Situation
On the same day, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told Radio ZET that regarding Greenland, Poland has no influence on the situation. “We should observe and be restrained,” assessed the PiS politician. As he emphasized, he hopes that Denmark will reach an agreement with the United States.
