Threats Against Nawrocki and Handgun Photo: Police Arrest 19‑Year‑Old

Polish police arrested a 19‑year‑old man on November 15 for threatening President Karol Nawrocki, following a social‑media post featuring a handgun.

Arrest Made on Threats

On Saturday, 15 November, metropolitan police detained a 19‑year‑old Polish citizen from Otwock County for allegedly making threats against President Karol Nawrocki.

The suspect is being processed under Article 190, paragraph 1 of Polish criminal law, which punishes those who threaten others with the commission of a crime if the threat induces reasonable fear of its fulfilment.

Post Featuring Handgun Sparks Investigation

The arrest followed an online post that attached a photograph of a handgun to the caption “Do zobaczenia, Karolku.” The image had previously circulated on other social‑media platforms.

Police stated that they acted immediately after identifying the post as part of the investigation.

Police Explain Legal Basis

According to authorities, the threat falls under the penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment under Article 190, paragraph 1, which covers threats that cause justified fear of harm or violation of liberty.

President’s Security Concerns Highlighted

President’s Office spokesperson Paweł Szefernaker described the incident as another example of a “spiral of hatred” aimed at destabilising Nawrocki’s administration.

He noted that similar threats had appeared several times after elections, reflecting ongoing attempts to undermine the president’s position from day one.
