An unmarked police car collided with a tram pole during a three-car accident on Prosta Street in Warsaw on Thursday, injuring one officer.
Accident Details
On Thursday, March 5, around 4:30 PM, three cars collided on Prosta Street in Warsaw, near the intersection with Żelazna Street heading toward Rondo Daszyński. One police officer in an unmarked police vehicle was injured in the crash.
Collision Sequence
The accident began when two BMWs were stopped in traffic on the right lane. The driver of a white BMW attempted to change to the left lane but was struck by a KIA vehicle traveling in that lane. The impact caused the white BMW to hit a blue BMW in front of it.
After colliding with the BMWs, the KIA continued and struck a tram pole and barriers separating the tram tracks from the roadway. The KIA was later identified as an unmarked police car, with one officer requiring hospital treatment.
Traffic Impact
The collision caused significant traffic disruptions on Prosta Street heading toward Rondo Daszyński. Initially, one lane was blocked, but the eventual clearing of the vehicles blocked two lanes. Police directed traffic at the Prosta-Żelazna intersection, preventing vehicles from proceeding toward Rondo Daszyński.
Emergency Response
Medical rescue teams and police were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters also arrived and removed the blocking vehicle, allowing traffic to resume on one lane of the road.
Investigation
The incident has been preliminarily classified as an accident. Police from the Road Traffic Department’s accident section are conducting measurements and documenting the scene photographically.
