Austin shooting leaves three dead including the perpetrator, 14 injured; FBI investigating possible terrorist motive.
Casualties and Investigation
Three people, including the perpetrator, died in the shooting, while 14 were injured. Three of the injured are in critical condition and hospitalized.
The investigation is being conducted by local police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is examining a possible terrorist motive for this attack.
Attack Details
According to official information from Austin police, a man first drove an SUV several times near a bar, then stopped the car and began shooting with a pistol at people sitting on the patio and at the entrance to the establishment.
He then left the vehicle and continued shooting at pedestrians, this time using a rifle. The first notification of the incident came to the dispatcher of emergency services, and officers arrived at the scene in less than a minute from the first report.
When the police encountered the armed attacker, they fired at him, resulting in the man dying at the scene.
Medical Response
Emergency services transported 14 victims to nearby hospitals. Three people are in critical condition, the others sustained injuries including gunshot wounds to limbs and injuries from bullet fragments; their condition is described as stable or moderate.
Additionally, at the scene, paramedics provided assistance to three more people who did not require hospitalization. The rescue operations involved teams from Austin-Travis County EMS, fire department, and municipal public safety police.
FBI Investigation
The FBI, together with local agents, is conducting an investigation into the perpetrator’s motives. So far, the investigative office has not presented final conclusions, but its representatives indicated that “indicators” suggesting potential connections to terrorist ideology have been found.
These indicators include materials found with the perpetrator and in his vehicle, which led investigators to expand the scope of the investigation beyond standard criminal procedures.
The FBI simultaneously emphasizes that this is still the preliminary phase of analysis, and the final assessment of the motive has not yet been presented to the public.
