Tragic Easter Accident
A fatal accident occurred during an Easter egg hunt in Mittelangeln-Satrupholm, Germany, around 11:00 AM on Easter Sunday. Approximately 50 residents and employees of the nearby “SterniPark” care facility were searching for Easter eggs when the incident happened.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
According to the rescue coordination center, over 80 rescuers were dispatched to the scene, including two emergency helicopters. A 16-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman died at the scene.
The 21-year-old woman’s ten-month-old daughter was transported to a hospital in Kiel, but despite doctors’ efforts, she also succumbed to her injuries.
Injuries and Possible Cause
An 18-year-old woman with serious injuries was taken to a hospital in Heide, where she underwent surgery. Police report she is now out of danger. Other participants sustained minor injuries. Strong winds, reaching 55 to 75 km/h in northern Germany over the Easter weekend, are believed to be the cause of the tragedy.
