Three Killed in Collision with Parked Truck in Lesser Poland

Three men aged 40 to 60 died at the scene this morning after their Fiat Punto crashed into a parked truck near the village of Smyków, 20 kilometers from Tarnów.

Fatal collision in Smyków

The accident occurred after 7:00 a.m. when a Fiat Punto struck the front of a stationary truck on the roadside near Smyków, according to Captain Hubert Ciepły, spokesperson for the Lesser Poland State Fire Service.

Emergency response and recovery

The vehicle was heavily mangled, requiring firefighters to use hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the three occupants. Despite resuscitation attempts by emergency responders, all three men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ongoing investigation

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash under the supervision of a prosecutor, including whether the truck was parked legally. The road remains completely blocked to traffic.
