Police Discover Illegal Gambling Machines During Chemical Smell Investigation

Ostrow Mazowiecka police responded to a report of a chemical odor emanating from a neighboring building on Thursday, January 22. Fire services confirmed no immediate threat to residents, prompting a forced entry into the venue. Inside, officers found five illegal gambling machines, several thousand złoty in cash, and a spilled liquid with a strong odor.

Precinct detectives from Ostrów Mazowiecka intensified the investigation following the discovery. The incident occurred in a venue housing the illegal slot machines.

Court Orders Temporary Detention for Suspects

On Thursday, January 29, police arrested three Wyszkow district men, aged 17, 21, and 23, suspected of the robbery. Evidence indicated they used violence and gas to incapacitate a man and a woman inside, stealing money. The District Court in Ostrów Mazowiecka granted prosecutors’ requests for remand custody.

The 21 and 23-year-olds were detained for three months, while the 17-year-old will be held for two months. Police continue investigating the illegal gambling machines; the suspects face a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment for robbery.
