Time for Estonian CIT Choice. But Is It Worthwhile?

Polish taxpayers using the calendar year as their tax period should decide on flat rate taxation by the end of January.

Key Deadline for Estonian CIT Selection

Although taxpayers using Corporate Income Tax (CIT) can choose a tax year different from the calendar year, in practice many remain with this period. For them, January is the first month of their tax year, making it the best time to decide on taxing company income as a flat rate.

One condition and method for choosing this form of taxation is submitting a notification about choosing the flat rate, according to a set form, to the appropriate tax office. The taxpayer should do this by the end of the first month of the tax year in which they want to be taxed under the flat rate system.

Alternative Procedures with Controversy

Of course, this is not the only period and method for changing the taxation method from general rules to Estonian CIT. An alternative procedure can be applied, which shortens the tax year, closes books, prepares statements, and submits ZAW-RD information, but this method is associated with certain controversies.

In other words, it is most convenient, simplest, and safest to make the decision and submit the flat rate notification by the end of the first month of the new tax year, which for taxpayers with a calendar year as their tax year means by the end of January.
