Toyota Crashes into Barriers in Warsaw; Driver Over Legal Alcohol Limit

A Toyota driven by a 26-year-old Ukrainian citizen crashed into barriers on Aleja Niepodległości in Warsaw on March 26th, registering over 2.7 promille of alcohol.

Incident Overview

On Thursday, March 26th, shortly before 2:00 PM, a Toyota was involved in a serious road incident on Aleja Niepodległości, past the intersection with Odyńca Street, heading towards Piaseczna. The car, driven by a 26-year-old Ukrainian citizen, collided with metal barriers separating the lanes, damaging them over several meters and becoming lodged on the structure.

Cause of the Accident

Initial findings indicate the Toyota driver was traveling from the city center and, for unknown reasons, veered onto the left side of the road. The vehicle struck the barriers separating opposing traffic directions, causing significant damage to road infrastructure.

Damage to Other Vehicles

The incident also resulted in damage to two other vehicles traveling towards the city center – a Citroen and an Audi. Debris from the damaged barriers struck both cars.

Emergency Response

Firefighters, a medical rescue team, and police were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics examined the Toyota driver, but hospitalization was not required.

Driver Arrested

Upon police arrival, the cause of the loss of vehicle control was determined. A breathalyzer test revealed the 26-year-old had over 2.7 promille of alcohol in his system. The man was arrested, and his vehicle was impounded.

Ongoing Investigation

Further proceedings with the detained man will be conducted after he has sobered up. The police are handling the case.
