Track Intrusion Ends in Fatal Train Collision; Woman Killed Under Wheels

A man intruded onto the tracks between Nasielsk and Świercze near Kątne on November 8, 2023, causing Intercity train IC 18115 to collide, killing a woman on site.

Trains Halted After Fatal Collision

At about noon on 8 November 2023, a male intruder crossed the rails between Nasielsk and Świercze near Kątne, just ahead of PKP Intercity train IC 18115/4 “Pobrzeże” bound for Lębork, resulting in a fatal collision. Train movement on the section was stopped.

Location and Operational Status

The incident occurred on the Warsaw–Gdańsk line between Nasielsk and Świercze. Police, a prosecutor, and infrastructure managers are at the scene. The intruder was found on the tracks away from crossings. Since noon, operations are suspended, and any possibility of single‑track running will be decided after site work is completed.

Victim Identification Ongoing

A woman of unknown identity entered the tracks and died at the scene. Identification procedures and determination of the full circumstances are underway.

Passenger Compensation Measures

PKP Intercity has announced a service interruption on the Nasielsk–Świercze segment. Joint fare waiver has been introduced between PKP Intercity and Koleje Mazowieckie across the entire operational area of the latter. Passengers can use tickets of either company.

Train IC 18115 “Pobrzeże” Details

The involved train IC 18115 “Pobrzeże” was running from Łódź Fabryczna to Lębork. The train was halted, and further arrangements of traffic on the line will depend on decisions by the responsible authorities.
