Tram tracks on Grochowska Avenue near Wiatraczna roundabout will be repaired from Nov 8‑12, causing traffic and public transport disruptions across Warsaw’s city centre.
Track repairs on Grochowska
Tram workers will repair tracks on Grochowska Avenue at the Wiatraczna roundabout. From Saturday to Wednesday, Nov. 8‑12, drivers will not enter the roundabout from Wiatraczna Street. Workers will set up a detour; trams will not run between the roundabout and Zieleniecka Avenue.
Track repair will begin Saturday, Nov. 8, at 12:15 a.m. Tram personnel will replace a switch, as well as arcs and tracks on the carriageway. Work will continue at night, possibly increasing noise levels.
Work is scheduled to finish Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 3:30 p.m.
Traffic changes
From Wiatraczna Street, drivers may turn only right onto Grochowska. Straight onto the roundabout, Warsaw Public Transport buses can continue.
From Wiatraczna Street, two lanes will head right. At the intersection of Podskarbińska and Międzyborska Streets, drivers will turn back and go to Grochowska to reach the Wiatraczna roundabout. Ahead of the roundabout, the Grochowska carriageway from Zamoyski side will be narrowed to two lanes, with a temporary bus stop on the third.
Impact on public transport
During the works only one access to the Wiatraczna loop will be closed. Trams will normally run between Washington Avenue and the Gocławek loop.
Trams will not travel on Zamoyski and Grochowska Streets from Zieleniecka Avenue to the Wiatraczna roundabout. Lines 3 and 6 will operate via detour streets: Zieleniecka and Washington. Line 22’s route will be shortened to the loop at Zieleniecka Avenue, and Line 26 service will be suspended. Additionally, on Nov. 11, Line 22 will not run on the tracks. The 13 line will run more frequently than usual.
Replacement buses Z-1 will run on Targowa, Zamoyski, and Grochowska between Wileński Station and the Wiatraczna roundabout.
Tram traffic will resume from the first departures on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
