Tragedy in Kampinos National Park: 57-Year-Old Woman Dead

Three tourists got lost in Kampinos National Park; a 57-year-old woman died, while her daughter and the daughter’s partner were hospitalized.

On Saturday, January 31, in the evening, services received a report about three tourists lost in Kampinos National Park. The 57-year-old woman, her 30-year-old daughter, and the 35-year-old partner of the younger woman had lost their way in the national park area. Police officers, firefighters, rescuers, and a guide with a tracking dog were on site. The fire department reported that the tourists were found between Truskaw and Pociecha. The older woman died. The 35-year-old and 30-year-old were taken to the hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.

Unable to Find Their Way Back

“On Saturday, January 31, in the evening, an alarm was announced at the County Police Headquarters for the Western Warsaw County. The reason was information about the disappearance of three adults – two women and a man – who, during a walk in the forest complex, lost their orientation and were unable to independently find their way back,” the capital police communicated. It was added that “significant forces and means were directed to help the missing: police officers from the county headquarters, a guide with a tracking dog, officers of the Warsaw Police Prevention Department, as well as firefighters from State and Volunteer Fire Brigades. Medical rescue teams were also dispatched to the scene,” reads the statement. Reporter tvnwarszawa.pl Artur Węgrzynowicz learned the details. He found out that the tourists were not walking on the main road, but on a shortcut. The 57-year-old had a sudden cardiac arrest, and a man tried to resuscitate her. – Her daughter ran to seek help because there was a problem with determining the location, the reporter said.

Police Appeal Caution in Forest Areas

The Capital Police Headquarters published an appeal on X. “Due to the ongoing frosts and significant cooling, we appeal for special caution when staying in forest and open areas, especially after dark. Low temperatures, wind and limited visibility can in a very short time lead to hypothermia, loss of orientation and life-threatening situations,” it was emphasized.
