Police from Warsaw Ursynów precinct, supported by officers from Warsaw II District Police and the Metropolitan Police Department’s Unit for Combating Hooliganism, detained 11 individuals in connection with the February 24 fire on Kłobucka Street. Five individuals were charged and placed under police supervision pending prosecution.
The criminal code imposes a prison sentence of up to 8 years for the offense committed.
Fire Details and Damages
The fire occurred on February 24, 2026. Police investigation determined that the blaze started when fireworks were ignited and thrown without proper control and supervision, engulfing a warehouse building and its contents. The fire destroyed gardening and construction equipment, machinery, specialized equipment, and materials stored in the facility. Damages were estimated at approximately 188,000 Polish zloty.
Police Investigation
Immediately after the incident, Ursynów police secured the fire scene, conducted inspections, and launched extensive operational activities. Officers analyzed surveillance footage, verified information gathered through operational work, and identified individuals potentially connected to the incident. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Unit for Combating Hooliganism was involved, utilizing community knowledge and operational expertise.
Detentions
The coordinated operation resulted in the detention of 11 individuals linked to the hooligan environment of one of Warsaw’s football clubs, aged 21 to 50. Detentions were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations, enabling the safe and efficient transport of suspects to the police station.
Legal Proceedings
The collected evidence enabled charges to be brought against five individuals, aged 32 to 45, for directly endangering many lives and property on a large scale. The remaining individuals were released after questioning. A request was submitted to the Warsaw Ursynów District Prosecutor’s Office to apply preventive measures against the five suspects.
The prosecutor imposed police supervision combined with a prohibition on contacting each other or other individuals present during the incident. The offense carries a prison sentence of up to 8 years, which may be increased due to the hooligan nature of the act.
