Police Operation: Safe Winter Holidays 2026
From mid-January to the end of February, police are conducting the “Safe Winter Holidays 2026” operation. Officers are reminding about the rules of safe winter recreation.
In the mountains, weather conditions can change within minutes: strong winds, snowfall, or a sudden drop in temperature are real dangers. For sledding, special designated hills should be chosen, away from roads, railway tracks, and parking lots. “Sledding backwards or in unsuitable places can result in serious injury,” added the police.
For ice skating, only safe places: artificial or verified ice rinks should be used. “Avoid entering frozen water bodies – the ice may be too thin. When skiing, always use a protective helmet and do not go beyond designated trails,” they emphasized.
