Police Receive Report of Intoxicated Driver
On Saturday, November 22 at about 19:00, Lubusz Police were alerted that a truck heading southbound on the S3 toward Gorzów Wielkopolski may have been under the influence. The driver’s erratic conduct and damage to roadside barriers were reported as a danger to other road users.
Chase and Interception
The pursuit began near Międzyrzecze Zachód, where the truck’s rear lighting bar was found damaged. The driver ignored traffic lights and sound signals, prompting police to intensify the chase. At Skwierzyna Południe, another patrol joined and successfully halted the vehicle.
Fatal Incident
When the driver failed to obey officers’ orders, a team tried to remove him from the cab. During the intervention, the truck struck an officer and the driver. The driver died at the scene, while the policeman sustained leg injuries.
