A freight train carrying diesel oil derailed in Mazowsze on February 2-3, with 6 of 25 cars leaving the tracks and halting rail traffic.

The incident occurred on the night from Monday to Tuesday (February 2-3) on railway line no. 12, near the village of Jaroszowa Wola (Piaseczno County, Mazowieckie Voivodeship).
According to RMF FM reports, 6 out of 25 cars of a freight train traveling from Szczecin to Chełm derailed. – The cars rolled off the embankment, lying on their side next to the tracks – reported RMF FM, citing Piaseczno County Fire Brigades Commander Press Officer Brigadier Łukasz Darmofalski.
Cargo Information
Portal Informacje na gorąco powiat piaseczyński determined that the train was carrying crude oil destined for Ukraine, though this information has not yet been confirmed by authorities.
No leaks have occurred, officials must still determine if the tank shells were damaged at the points where the cars rest on the ground, Brigadier Darmofalski informed RMF FM.
Official Response
Deputy Head of MSWiA Wiesław Szczepański told RMF FM that the cause of the incident could be “a failure of the traction network caused by low temperatures.”
Police, railway protection service, and 24 fire brigades are working at the scene. A chemical rescue unit from Warsaw specializing in chemical hazards has been deployed due to the cargo.
No injuries have been reported, but train traffic on the affected section has been stopped.
