A rail failure on the single-track Witonia-Łęczyca line in Łódź Voivodeship has caused significant delays, with passengers facing hours-long waits.
Rail Network Failure Disrupts Service
The disruption occurred on the single-track section between Witonia and Łęczyca, a railway line connecting Kutno and Łódź. A track maintenance train with a boom lift is currently repairing the overhead contact line.
Train services in the Łódź region are being replaced by buses. PKP PLK spokesperson Karol Jakubowski stated that the duration of the repairs is currently unknown.
Domino Effect of Delays
PKP PLK’s spokesperson noted that the rail network operates as an interconnected system, meaning delays to one train will cause delays to others, creating a domino effect.
Passengers can monitor updates on the Passenger Portal.
Further Delays Reported Elsewhere
RMF FM reports that the 6:00 AM Intercity train from Poznań Główny to Ustka was delayed by 2.5 hours, and the TLK Ustronie train from Kołobrzeg to Kraków was delayed by one hour.
These delays are due to issues on the section between Jezierzyce Słupskie and Sławno stations, where replacement transport is in operation.
