Train Schedule Paralysis After Fatal Accident: Delays Reach 350 Minutes

A fatal train collision in the Kątne area of the Masovian Voivodeship on November 8 has halted services on a Warsaw‑Gdańsk line, with some trains delayed over 350 minutes.

Fatal Accident in Kątne

A woman was killed when she was struck by PKP Intercity train No. 18115/4 “Pobrzeże” on the Łódź Fabryczna‑Kołobrzeg route. The collision occurred in the village of Kątne, between Nasielski and Świercz, where the woman unlawfully entered the tracks.

Service Halt Begins

Since 12:00 on Saturday, 8 November, all trains on the Warsaw‑Gdańsk stretch have been suspended between Świercz and Nasielski. PKP PLK spokesperson Karol Jakubowski said the line is essentially closed at that point, affecting the entire Warsaw‑Gdańsk corridor.

Intercity and TLK Disruptions

After 15:00, PKP Intercity announced that services on the Nasielski–Świercz segment could experience delays exceeding 90 minutes, and that IC and KM tickets would be honoured across the Mazovian Rail network. The TLK train No. 15108/9 “KATAMARAN” from Warsaw to Gdańsk‑Główna was cancelled between Łódź Fabryczna and Warsaw‑Gdańska. Passengers may file complaints via the on‑line form, ticket offices, or by mail.

Record Delays Reach 350 Minutes

Some trains are now delayed by over five hours. By 20:00, the IC train “SIENKIEWICZ” from Olsztyn‑Główny to Kraków‑Główny was 351 minutes late, while the Mława‑Warszawa Zachodnia service was delayed by 350 minutes. Updated timings can be tracked on the pasazera.pl website.
