Train Service Suspended on Otwock Line for Two Weeks

Train services between Warsaw Wawer and Otwock stations will be suspended from April 12th to 26th due to railway modernization work.

Service Disruption and Modernization Works

Railway workers are beginning work on the Otwock line, resulting in a two-week suspension of train services between Warsaw Wawer and Otwock stations, from April 12th to 26th.

The modernization of the railway line leading from Otwock to Warsaw East is underway, aiming to improve and expedite train access to central Warsaw in the coming years. PKP PLK has begun expanding the track layout between Warsaw Wawer and Otwock.

Changes for Passengers

Train services between Warsaw Wawer and Otwock stations will be suspended for two weeks – from April 12th to 26th. Trains from SKM and KM will only run from Warsaw East station to Warsaw Wawer station, utilizing temporary platforms on the east side of the station.

SKM trains will continue to Pruszków along the standard S1 line, operating a schedule similar to the current one, with approximately two trains per hour (every 30 minutes). During peak hours, SKM and KM trains will depart towards Warsaw East approximately every 10 minutes.

Replacement Bus Service

A replacement bus line, ZS1, will operate along the railway line (on the west side) between Wawer and Otwock. Buses will stop at all stops along the route, departing approximately every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes outside peak hours and on Sundays.

The ZS1 route is: PKP WAWER – Widoczna – Patriotów (westbound lane) – JÓZEFÓW: Piłsudskiego – OTWOCK: Kołłątaja – Majowa – Jana Pawła II – Warszawska – PKP OTWOCK (east side).

In Wawer, buses will stop at the stop on Widoczna Street, near the station entrance, with access to the temporary platforms via an underground passage and designated walkways. In Falenica, buses will stop at temporary stops on Patriotów Street near Śpiewnej. A temporary bus loop will be located on the east side of the Otwock railway station. Koleje Mazowieckie will also provide replacement buses, with information provided by staff.

Additional Bus Routes

Bus line 521 will operate more frequently between PKP Falenica and Rondo Wiatraczna – approximately every 5 minutes during peak hours and every 7.5 minutes outside peak hours; the route to Central Station will maintain its current frequency. The new line 229 will also operate, starting from Patriotów Street near PKP Falenica station, to Metro Imielin via Anna Jagiellonki Bridge, running every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on Saturdays and holidays.

The route for line 229 is: PKP FALENICA – Patriotów – Bysławska – Liliowa – Tawułkowa – Przewodowa – Wał Miedzeszyński – POW – Przyczółkowa – Branickiego – Płaskowickiej – Rosoła – Gandhi – Aleja Komisji Edukacji Narodowej – Ciszewskiego – URSYNÓW PŁD.

Residents of Wawer will be able to use bus line 319 throughout the renovation, traveling via Anna Jagiellonki Bridge to Rotmistrza Pileckiego Street or Metro Imielin. On school days, buses will run approximately every 15 minutes during peak hours. The schedules of lines 229 and 319 will be coordinated, with buses stopping approximately every 7.5 minutes on the shared route section, allowing transfers to the metro, buses, and trams heading from Miasteczko Wilanów loop to the city center.

Ticket Validity

All WTP tickets on the Warsaw Zachodnia – Warsaw Wschodnia – Warsaw Wawer – Otwock section will be valid on trains and replacement buses of Kolei Mazowieckich from April 12th.

All KM tickets will be valid on SKM trains on the Warsaw Zachodnia – Warsaw Wawer – Otwock section and on buses operating along railway line No. 7.

Passengers with “cardboard” WTP tickets that have not been validated must write the date and time of the start of the journey on the back in 24-hour format (e.g., 12.04. 10:00). Holders of tickets encoded on the Warsaw City Card must activate them in the WTP vehicle, at the metro gate, or with the train conductor immediately after entering through the first door from the front of the train.

Future Service Adjustments

From April 27th, for approximately one year, SKM and Kolei Mazowieckich trains will return to operating to Otwock, using a single track. During peak hours, passengers will have access to one SKM train and two Kolei Mazowieckich trains per hour in each direction. Remaining trains will run from Warsaw East station to Warsaw Wawer station, where transfers will be available from bus line 521 operating on Patriotów and Wydawnicza streets.
