Train Strikes Two Teenagers Near Goleniów, One Fatality

A train struck two 13-year-old girls near Goleniów, Poland, on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in one death and critical injuries to the other.

Train Collides with Teenagers on Tracks

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 22nd, before 2:00 PM, in a forested area near Goleniów, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The single-track section of railway line No. 402 leads towards Kołobrzeg and Koszalin.

Two unauthorized individuals on the tracks were struck by a train traveling from Szczecin Główny to Koszalin, causing a suspension of train traffic. Service will resume after police and the prosecutor complete their work, according to PKP PLK spokesperson Bartosz Pietrzykowski.

Injuries and Emergency Response

According to Justyna Sochacka, a spokesperson for the Air Ambulance Rescue Service, both victims were 13 years old. One girl died at the scene, and the other was airlifted to a hospital in Szczecin in critical condition. Her current condition is unknown.

The Air Ambulance Rescue Service spokesperson also stated it is too early to discuss the circumstances of the incident.

Passenger Evacuation

Approximately 100 passengers are being evacuated through the forest.

Andrzej Chańko, director of the Szczecin branch of Polregio, explained that the train crew would likely lead passengers 700-800 meters through the forest to the nearest point accessible by bus.

Service Disruption and Alternatives

Only Polregio trains operate on line 402. Seven connections were scheduled on this route by 5:00 PM, according to Pietrzykowski. The carrier was advised to implement replacement transport.

The suspension of train traffic from Goleniów towards Kołobrzeg may last longer, Pietrzykowski cautioned.
