Tram Collision in Warsaw Center Injures Multiple Passengers

Multiple people were injured Wednesday morning when two trams collided on Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw.

Police: Tram driver failed to exercise caution

The incident occurred on Wednesday (February 18) before 7 am between Plac Unii Lubelskiej and Plac Zbawiciela, on Marszałkowska Street. Police are at the scene. From preliminary findings, it appears that the driver of tram line 10 did not maintain sufficient caution and collided with the rear of tram line 18, according to TVN24 journalist Edyta Adamus from the Metropolitan Police Headquarters. Medical assistance is being provided to six people. The injured mainly have abrasions and bruises.

Traffic disruptions

Due to the collision, changes have been made to the routes of tram lines: 4, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18 heading to the termini: Wyścigi, Sielce, Miasteczko Wilanów, PKP Służewiec. They have been diverted to alternative routes. It is not known how long the disruptions will last. Authorities have appealed to passengers to exercise caution and use other means of transport.
