Tram Crash on Mokotów Street Injures Driver

A tram collision with a Nissan on March 27th in Warsaw’s Mokotów district left the tram driver hospitalized and caused significant traffic disruptions.

Collision Details

On Friday, March 27th, around 5:50 PM, a tram on line 10 collided with a Nissan passenger car at the intersection of Alei Lotników and Puławska Street.

Preliminary findings suggest the Nissan driver ran a red light, entering the path of the tram traveling towards the city center. The tram struck the side of the car, pushing it into a pedestrian traffic light, causing it to fall over.

Emergency Response

Firefighters, two medical rescue teams, police, public transport traffic control, and Warsaw Tram Services (Tramwaje Warszawskie) were dispatched to the scene.

Emergency personnel secured the area, while medical teams attended to those involved in the incident.

Injuries and Disruptions

The two occupants of the Nissan did not require hospitalization and remained at the scene. The tram driver sustained a hand injury and was transported to the hospital.

The incident caused major traffic congestion in the Mokotów area, blocking access from Alei Lotników to Puławska and from Wałbrzyska Street to Alei Lotników. Two lanes on Puławska Street towards Piaseczno were also blocked.

Tram and Bus Diversions

Tram service was suspended between Wilanowska loop and Wyścigi. Lines 4, 10, 189, 193, 317, 401, and 402 were diverted.

Lines 4 and 10 towards Wyścigi loop were shortened to Metro Wilanowska loop. Lines 189, 193, 317, 401, and 402 were rerouted via Alei Lotników – Modzelewskiego – Alei Wilanowska – Rolna – Wałbrzyska.
