Tram Derails While Removing Damaged Unit, Blocks Starzyńskiego Road

A tram car derailed while reversing back onto Warsaw’s main tracks on Starzyńskiego Street, halting line 1 service and blocking traffic until 10:57.

Derailment During Removal of Damaged Unit

At Starzyńskiego Street, just before the Żaba roundabout, a tram car derailed while reversing onto the main tracks. The incident occurred during the removal of a previously damaged train that had been moved to a siding.

No Injuries, Service Interruption

No passengers or crew were hurt. However, the incident caused a temporary halt of tram line 1 and blocked road traffic heading toward the Żaba roundabout.

Rapid Reinstatement Without Crane

Warsaw Tram services secured the site and realigned the derailed car onto the tracks without the use of a crane, speeding the restoration of service.

Traffic Disruptions and Reroutes

Road traffic on Starzyńskiego Street was interrupted during the repairs. Line 1 was rerouted via Annopol, 11 listopada, Targowa, Ratuszowa, Jagiellońska, and Starzyńskiego roundabout to the opposite end of the street until line 1 resumed at 10:57.
