A transformer fire broke out at a construction site on Janowiecka Street in Warsaw’s Targówek district, was extinguished by workers before firefighters arrived, with no injuries.
Fire Ignited on Construction Site
A high level of smoke was spotted inside a transformer at the Janowiecka Street construction site in Targówek, Warsaw. Workers instantly reported the incident and began attempts to smother the blaze using available hand‑held extinguishing tools.
Rapid Response Kills Flames
The fire was brought under control with a powder extinguisher before the fire brigade could arrive. The flame did not spread beyond the transformer housing, limiting damage and risk to onsite personnel.
Firefighters Arrive and Inspect
Four teams comprising 16 firefighters responded to the scene. Upon arrival they verified the transformer’s condition, checked for residual fire sources and secured the area, finding no need for further suppression.
No Casualties
No one was injured or required evacuation. Workers were able to move away from the transformer’s immediate vicinity, and the broader site remained undisturbed.
Cause Remains Unclear
Authorities have not identified the cause of the transformer fire, and investigations continue.
