Poland implements new standards for transporting pregnant women to hospitals with maternity wards, effective January 31, 2026.
New Regulation for Maternity Transport
An amendment to the Minister of Health’s regulation on guaranteed hospital treatment benefits, providing for new standards, came into force on January 31, 2026 (Journal of Laws 2026, no. 51).
Pregnant Women Protocol
Under the new regulation, pregnant women who arrive at a hospital providing such care will be examined by a midwife. If hospitalization in a specialized ward is required, the woman will be transported to the appropriate hospital.
Enhanced Ambulance Standards
Transport will be conducted in ambulances with elevated standards to ensure safe and appropriate care for pregnant women during transfer.
