At about 20:10, a liquid nitrogen tanker crashed onto a ditch on national road 62 near Skuszew, just north of Warsaw, triggering an emergency response from over ten fire units.
Accident details
At around 20:10 on National Road 62 in Skuszew, a tanker transporting liquid nitrogen lost control, rolled off a curve into a ditch, and overturned. The truck cab fell into the ditch while the trailer with the tanker folded and hung partially over the road. One person was injured and the roadway is blocked in both directions.
Emergency response
More than ten fire teams from the Wyszków County, Warsaw’s Technical Rescue Group 10, and the Chemical–Environmental Rescue Group 6 have converged on the scene. The Wyszków County operational officer and the Warsaw Provincial Police Headquarters also arrived to coordinate efforts. Firefighters secured the area, halted traffic, and are assessing the tank’s integrity and potential leaks.
Safety measures and planned actions
Police reports say the driver was taken to a hospital, and the tanker did not rupture. The plan is to pump the nitrogen into a replacement tug‑tanker, then place the damaged tanker and vehicle back on wheels. Chemical teams are monitoring the atmosphere and evaluating risks to people and the environment during the pumping operation.
Investigation and traffic advice
The police are investigating the incident to determine exact causes. Until the operation concludes, drivers are urged to take alternate routes and follow traffic control directives. Road 62 will remain blocked for several hours.
