A semi-truck driver collapsed and crashed into an embankment near Krakowiaków Street Tuesday morning after bystanders and emergency services administered emergency care before rushing him to the hospital.
Driver Unconscious After Crash
At approximately 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9, the truck was reported hitting the embankment at Działkowa Street intersection while the driver was unconscious. Witnesses began resuscitation efforts, followed by firefighters and medical emergency teams who then transported the man to the hospital.
Witnesses Describe Chaotic Scene
Employees nearby reported the truck had been operating erratically and crossed to the opposite side of the street. Workers approached the cabin where the unresponsive driver ignored calls. Upon opening the door, they found the unconscious man held in place by seat belt, released him, positioned him in the seat, and began CPR while calling emergency services.
Difficult Extraction from Truck
Due to the truck’s cab height, bystanders couldn’t safely extract the victim from the vehicle. Six firefighters eventually managed to remove him from the cab. Resuscitation efforts continued outside, joined by the medical emergency team.
40-Minute Resuscitation Pays Off
After approximately 40 minutes of intensive resuscitation efforts, vital signs returned to normal. The man was placed in an ambulance and transported to the hospital, where initial reports suggest cardiac arrest occurred while operating the vehicle. The police will investigate the circumstances of the incident.
