A Romanian truck driver lost control on a curve at the S8-to-DK50 junction in Ostrów Mazowiecka, causing the vehicle to strike barriers and overturn, resulting in a multi-hour road closure.
Collision details and investigation
The incident occurred yesterday at the 0.6-kilometer mark of the ramp connecting the S8 expressway to national road DK50. Preliminary findings indicate that the 42-year-old Romanian driver of a MAN tractor-trailer failed to adjust his speed to prevailing road conditions while navigating a curve.
Upon losing control, the vehicle struck roadside barriers and tipped over. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries.
Traffic disruption and recovery efforts
The accident resulted in a total blockage of the junction. Emergency services secured the scene and initiated complex technical operations to remove the heavy vehicle and restore traffic flow.
During the recovery, authorities directed traffic through regional road 694 toward Poręba, or via Różańska and Brokowska streets in Ostrów Mazowiecka. The cleanup operation concluded after midnight, and the ramp is now fully operational with no further restrictions.
Police warnings regarding road safety
Law enforcement officials are reminding motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits, especially when navigating curves, highway off-ramps, and sections where maneuvering heavy transport vehicles requires heightened caution.
