Scrap Traveled from Germany to Poland
Two trucks intercepted on the A4 motorway near Jędrzychowice were carrying scrap imported from Germany, according to a Monday statement by the Ministry of Finance.
Unauthorized Transport
The Lower Silesia Customs Office found that the scrap’s recipient lacked the necessary authorization to process the waste, making the transport illegal and subject to a penalty ranging from 10,000 to 1,000,000 zlotys.
The shipments were returned to the sender in Germany.
Recurring Issue
This is not the first instance of illegally transporting German waste into Poland. The ministry has reported similar cases previously.
In 2023, customs officials seized about 65 tonnes of waste destined for Poland. In 2024, the largest such site in Tuplicy was cleared, with 19,800 tonnes of waste removed.
