Following tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump criticized European nations for not supporting the U.S. in conflict with Iran.
Trump Suggests Europe Secure Its Own Oil Supply
U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested that countries which did not support the United States in its conflict with Iran, and are now complaining about oil shortages, should either procure the resource from the U.S. or secure it themselves from the Strait of Hormuz.
“To all of the countries that are having difficulty getting oil because of (Iranian blockade – PAP) the Strait of Hormuz – like Great Britain, who refused to participate in decapitating Iran – I have a suggestion. First, buy oil from the USA – we have plenty; second, go and get it yourself. You will have to learn to fight for yourselves, the USA will not be helping you anymore, just like you didn’t help us. Iran has been basically decimated. The hard part is over. Go get your oil!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Criticism of France Over Israeli Flight Restrictions
Shortly after, Trump posted a second message, primarily targeting France. “France did not allow planes flying to Israel, loaded with military equipment, to fly over their territory. France was VERY UNHELPFUL with the ‘Butcher of Iran’ (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – PAP) who was taken out! The United States will NOT FORGET!!! President DJT” he stated.
NATO Allies Criticized for Lack of Support
Trump has repeatedly criticized European NATO members, particularly Great Britain, for not supporting the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, which began on February 28th. In response to attacks from the two countries, Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil supply normally passes.
