During an Easter event at the White House, Donald Trump’s religious advisor Paula White-Cain drew criticism for comparing him to Jesus Christ.
Trump Compared to Jesus
Paula White-Cain, Donald Trump’s longtime religious advisor, delivered a speech at an Easter event held at the White House on Wednesday, April 1st. She expressed gratitude for Trump’s presidency and his advocacy for “religious freedom in the United States and around the world.”
White-Cain stated, “The truth is, you are here because of God and because of you.”
Parallels Drawn to Christ’s Suffering
White-Cain drew parallels between Trump’s experiences and the suffering of Jesus Christ. She noted Jesus’ lessons through his death, burial, and resurrection, highlighting his leadership and transformative sacrifice.
“Mr. President, no one has paid the price like you. It almost cost you your life. You were betrayed, arrested, and falsely accused. This is a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us,” she asserted.
Resurrection Analogy
The advisor stated that, just as Jesus overcame death, Trump would also prevail. She emphasized God’s plan for resurrection and victory over evil, death, hell, and the grave.
“Because He rose, we know that we can rise too. Through the resurrection, you have risen… Through His victory, you will win in everything you undertake,” White-Cain declared.
Trump’s Legal Battles
In 2023, Trump turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail, where he was questioned regarding charges of conspiring to falsify election results in Georgia in 2020. He was released on bail shortly after, maintaining his innocence.
Reports indicate the case was dismissed in 2025 following the removal of prosecutor Fani Willis.
Criticism of White-Cain’s Remarks
White-Cain’s speech elicited widespread negative reactions, with many deeming her comments inappropriate. Rich Raho, a Catholic theologian, wrote on X, “Blasphemy. It’s shocking to see an American bishop on stage while Paula White compares Trump to Jesus Christ.”
Political strategist Jeff Timmer succinctly commented, “Freaks, liars, charlatans, grifters, criminals – anything but Christians.”
