Polish President Karol Nawrocki and US President Donald Trump attend Davos Forum, with Trump delayed after Air Force One returns due to technical issues.
Trump’s Delayed Arrival
US President Donald Trump will arrive in Davos with a delay after his Air Force One returned to Andrews Air Force Base due to “a minor electronic problem” shortly after takeoff. The aircraft turned back as a precaution, with Trump and his team scheduled to continue their journey to Switzerland on another plane.
The White House confirmed the incident, which occurred Tuesday night into Wednesday. After approximately one hour, another aircraft carrying President Trump departed for Switzerland, ensuring his participation in the forum’s Wednesday program despite the delay.
European Defense Debate
A key Wednesday event is the debate titled “Can Europe Defend Itself?” featuring Polish President Karol Nawrocki, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. The discussion focuses on Europe’s defensive capabilities amid the war in Ukraine, Russian pressure, and growing expectations within NATO.
Major Forum Events
The Wednesday program includes nearly 60 meetings, panels, and discussions. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouska will meet with Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu to discuss Western sanctions’ impact on Russia’s economy and its aggression against Ukraine.
Other key participants include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Argentine President Javier Milei. The forum addresses humanitarian challenges, renewable energy development, and cooperation in an increasingly conflicted world.
