Trump Attacks Pope Francis, Shares AI-Generated Image of Himself as Jesus

Donald Trump criticized Pope Francis’s stance on crime and foreign policy, posting a digitally-created image depicting himself as Jesus Christ on Truth Social.

Trump’s Criticism of Pope Francis

Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that Pope Francis is weak on crime and a failure in foreign policy, urging him to “shape up” and cease appeasing the radical left.

Trump further asserted that the Pope should focus on being a “great Pope, not a politician,” and expressed that Francis should be grateful for his position, implying it was secured due to Trump’s influence.

AI-Generated Image and Symbolism

Accompanying the post was an AI-generated image portraying Trump as Jesus, clad in white robes and a red cloak, healing a sick man with radiant light emanating from his hands.

The image included symbols such as the Statue of Liberty, Lincoln Memorial, fireworks, the American flag, military aircraft, eagles, and soldiers depicted as angels, alongside figures of a soldier, veteran, nurse, and praying woman.

Polish Security Chief Condemns Trump’s Post

Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau, condemned Trump’s post and accompanying image as an “insult to the Vicar of Christ, and therefore to all Catholics.”

“Antichrist-Like” Behavior, Says Commentator

Publicist Tomasz Terlikowski labeled Trump’s actions as “antichrist-like,” suggesting Trump believes himself to be a messianic figure.

Terlikowski argued that the imagery indicates a dangerous direction for the administration, and that Pope Francis was chosen by cardinals to represent the teachings of Jesus, not to support Trump or the United States.

Papal Role and Trump’s Expectations

Terlikowski criticized Trump’s apparent desire for a Pope resembling the “Grand Inquisitor” from Dostoevsky’s novel, prioritizing power and suppression over peace and freedom.

He further stated that Trump’s administration and the former president himself have little in common with Christianity, instead embracing a nihilistic pursuit of power.

Trump’s Specific Grievances

Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Pope Francis’s views on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and criticism of U.S. actions against Venezuela, which he accused of exporting drugs and criminals.

Trump stated he does not want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States, especially while achieving record-low crime rates and a booming stock market.
